Oliver, in Sunday night’s episode of Last Week Tonight, offered to wager that Trump will win on Nov. 8, if Trump will bet on his own loss so that even if he loses the presidency to Hillary Clinton, the businessman can still “claim that he won something.”
“It increasingly seems like if Donald Trump loses, we are not going to get the concession speech that the country badly needs, because he is medically incapable of accepting that he is a loser,” Oliver explained, adding, “I think I might have the answer here, because I have a proposition for Donald Trump: Let’s bet on the outcome of this election.”
Oliver said he’d wager on a Trump win if Trump would bet on his own defeat at the polls: “That way, if you lose, you still win.”
“As for the stakes of the bet, I have something I know that you want,” Oliver teased, before pulling out one of his own Emmy awards.
He joked, “Of course he wants an Emmy. It’s a woman, it’s gold, and it’s proportionate to his tiny hands. It’s basically Trump’s ideal mate.”

Oliver’s bit spins off of the final presidential debate, in which Trump refused to pledge to accept the election result, prompting Clinton to recite Trump’s record of crying “rigged” when things don’t go his way—including, she said, “when he didn’t get an Emmy for his TV program three years in a row and he started tweeting that the Emmys were rigged against him.”
Trump, referring to his reality competition show The Apprentice, interjected during the debate: “Should have gotten it.”
