Dave Chappelle has come under fire after a surprise comedy show in New York on Friday night.

During his set, the comedian spent time addressing the upcoming presidential election. According to the Observer, Chappelle criticized the media for slamming Donald Trump after the video leak of the Republican nominee sharing lewd remarks with former Today host Billy Bush.

“What I heard on that tape was gross,” Chappelle said. “But the way I got to hear it was even more gross. You know that came directly from Hillary.”

He went on to address the media reporting that Trump’s comments classified as sexual assault, according to the Observer, whose publisher is Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.

“Sexual assault? It wasn’t,” Chappelle said. “He said, ‘And when you’re a star, they let you do it.’ That phrase implies consent. I just don’t like the way the media twisted that whole thing. Nobody questioned it.”

And while Chappelle told the crowd he had already voted for Hillary Clinton, he admitted that he was not enthusiastic to be #WithHer.

“She’s going to be on a coin someday,” he said. “And her behavior has not been coin-worthy. She’s not right and we all know she’s not right.”

In a statement obtained by VarietyChappelle’s rep denounced remarks that the comedian was defending Trump.

“Dave is disgusted by the tone of the election and especially by the idea that his comedy would be misconstrued to defend [Donald T]rump,” the rep said in a statement. “His comedy show blasted both candidates. By the way, he voted for Hillary [Clinton].”

Chappelle is scheduled to host Saturday Night Live on Saturday, Nov. 12. On Friday, he joked, “You know there’s a pool going on whether or not I show up. I got $100,000 that says I won’t.”
