Motuba celebrated a milestone in a massive way.

On Thursday, the silverback western lowland gorilla celebrated his 31st birthday at the Philadelphia Zoo. Motuba was treated to his own special cake, which included yogurt, veggies and fruit. (Eat young, stay young!) Keepers also wrapped up several snack gifts for the ape, who was able to tear up the packaging all on his own.

The wild party was attended by zoo staff along with Honi and Kira, Motuba’s two female exhibit mates.

Cake, ladies, presents and a sense of independence, sounds like an ideal birthday to me.
