The prince, a self-described “keen polo player,” helped take his team to victory on Saturday during a charity match in Santa Barbara, Calif. His horse handler picked out six ponies for Will prior to the match, and helped warm them up in preparation.

In spite of her allergy to horses (which she is working to overcome), Kate was there for her husband on Saturday, encouraging him before the match.

“It’s either a tortoise or a snail,” Kate told Will when he asked her about her painting. “I’m not sure.” Will later helped create a clay sculpture of – what else? – a tortoise.

The newlyweds really got into the spirit of Canada when they stopped at the Calgary Stampede on July 7. While Kate seemed shocked at the sight of a man about to fall off a bull, Will looked to enjoy the spectacle.

RIDE 'EM, COWBOY
And it wouldn’t be a rodeo without a little mutton busting! A helmet-wearing boy put on a show for the couple – by riding a sheep.

While traveling the parade route of the Calgary Stampede, Will took the reins of a horse carriage – and looked mighty happy about it.

It wasn’t just humans who were excited to meet the prince and princess – an adorable corgi (fittingly, the Queen’s favorite breed) waited with the crowds on July 6 to greet Will and Kate in Slave Lake, Canada.

On their last day in Canada, the couple visited the Calgary Zoo, where they attended a reception at the Enmax Conservatory.

It wasn’t quite an elephant, but there was another very large animal in the room during a session of Youth Parliament at the Legislative Assembly in Yellowknife, Canada. The polar bear managed to be a dominant presence, even with the world’s most famous royals around.

If the polar bear rug won’t serve as a lasting memory, perhaps a pair of diamond cuff links and a brooch will. Will and Kate were presented with the gift, signifying “mutual respect and affection,” on July 5.
