Grow up? Nestle says, "No, thanks." The adorable senior pooch — who is this week’s #cutepic winner — just doesn’t see the fun in that. "Nestle has always had a ridiculous amount energy," says owner Samantha Hyde, who adopted the pup from her brother when he was 7 years old. "[He] was just too much for my brother [and his growing family] to take care of. So, in 2012, he asked me if I wanted him."
Having recently said a sad goodbye to her childhood dog, Hyde wasn’t sure she was ready. "I decided to try it out on a trial basis," she recalls. "The trial didn't last long, because of course I fell in love."

NOTHING BUT A NUMBER
"People are always surprised to learn he's technically a senior dog," says Hyde, who lives with the pointer in Covington, Louisiana. “I still occasionally get people that ask me how old my puppy is and are surprised when I say 12, though if you get close enough, his white beard now gives him away."

SEEK & DESTROY
He may be an older gent, but toys are still at the top of Nestle's list. "His favorite thing in the world is squeaky toys and any kind of ball," says Hyde. "He's a total destroyer, so I constantly have to pick up after him (though he is very good at knowing what is his and what is mine)."

ICE, ICE BABY
Time spent with Nestle is never dull. Among his likes are playing monkey in the middle ("He makes a great monkey," Hyde says); he's also a big fan of barking at anything that is on the other side of the fence and knocking pillows off the couch. "Whenever he hears the fridge ice machine going, he comes running," she adds. "He had his first Louisiana snowball recently, and he was a big fan!"

FOR ME? THANKS!
Nestle is the gift that keeps on giving. "I've had him for five years, and it's been the absolute best!" Hyde says. "I'm extremely thankful for every minute I get to spend with him."
