Next to hunky PEOPLE Pet Vet Dr. Evan Antin, the unique traits of the World’s Ugliest Dog contestants truly shine.

Dr. Antin stopped by California’s Sonoma-Marin Fair, home to the adorably odd competition, on Friday to get face-to-face with the canines who showed up to strut their stuff.

Among these ugly-cute competitors were Monkey the partially bald pup and 17-year-old Brussells Griffon/pug mix Moe.

While both of these pooches appeared poised for success, it was Martha the Mastiff and her many skin folds that took the top spot.

The gassy dog, who is also missing an eye, was unaffected by the announcement that she would be joining the ranks of the World’s Ugliest Dogs — but Dr. Antin was ecstatic and proud to see a big dog win a contest that usually goes to the little guys.
