Most days, we feel like our dogs understand us, be it their mutual respect for nap time or insistence upon singing along to “Eternal Flame.”

Then we watched this video of a dog politely, even gallantly, waiting to eat her dinner. Said dog, named Indiana, hears her human rumbling through the food bin and measuring out a perfect scoop of kibble.

She shows her excitement, sure. But it’s restrained, majestic and nothing like the way we greeted our takeout last night. It’s not that we’re not impressed. We are impressed, trust. However, this violates our unspoken agreement that it’s totally okay and socially acceptable to lose all chill when things like carbohydrates are involved. We’d expect this kind of a betrayal from a cat, but not you, Indiana.
