The styles were fierce at Malan Breton’s Wednesday fashion show in New York – thanks, in part, to a furry muse!
Four black and white looks in Breton’s new collection were actually inspired by Fancy Feast’s iconic snow-white feline, and of course the pretty kitty was there to take all the credit. (The cat food brand was the New York Fashion Week show’s sponsor.)
In an interview with Esquire.com, Breton said incorporating cats into his work was a lot of fun.
“I love cats. I’ve had cats all my life,” he said. “They’re the ones that make all the decisions around the house, and they’re the bossy ones. There’s a certain street element to different kinds of cats that are outdoors cats. And that’s what I went with for the man, more of an outdoor feeling. A very sleek, outdoor feeling.”
As Breton was fielding all the tough style questions, the Fancy feline, a silver chinchilla Persian, prepped backstage on a folding chair, put her best paw forward on the runway and posed with models wearing the designs – without a catfight to speak of!
