Move over, Bo Obama – there’s a new puppy captivating America’s heart. Audiences have fallen in love with Kevin, the fluffy white American Eskimo dog who appears alongside Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds in the hit romantic comedy The Proposal.

In real life, Kevin was portrayed by four different pooches: Flurry, Sitka, Nanu and Winter. Flurry, however, was the favorite among the cast and crew and even formed a special bond with the film’s leading lady, a rep for the movie tells PEOPLE. In between takes, when Bullock’s character attempts to sacrifice the poor puppy to a hungry eagle, the actress would wrap the pooch in her bath robe and apologize profusely, promising she didn’t mean to hurt him. Evidently, he forgave her: He later refused to follow the script in another scene which required him to bark at the star.

The dogs’ Proposal gig wasn’t their first appearance on the big screen. They also nabbed a spot in the kids’ film Hotel For Dogs with Emma Roberts, which was released earlier this year. When they’re not working in Hollywood, the dogs live in Los Angeles with their trainers.
