What does a severed head found by the Hollywood sign have to do with Maya Rudolph?

The actress knows the dog that first discovered the gruesome evidence. In an interview this week on Conan, the Up All Night star told host Conan O’Brien that the dog belongs to a friend who has, since the incident, been going through a “really bizarre, horrific ordeal.”

Golden retriever Ollie was exploring Runyon Canyon with his dog walker when he happened upon what appeared to be a toy. “He likes balls – soccer balls.” Rudolph, 39, explains. “I think he’s a digger. He was digging, and he came out all proud with this bag, and something fell out, and it was the head.”

Ollie then had to ride in a squad car to the police station, where he stayed for four hours. He has since been nominated for an ASPCA award for his actions, according to Rudolph, but we’ve yet to find out if Ollie has won.
