Jesse Tyler Ferguson Talks to His Dog from Golden Globes Red Carpet

It’s a familiar motif of the awards season speech: The winner steps up to the podium and tells the kids at home that they should be asleep, not watching TV.

That was just the plan for Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who told Ryan Seacrest on the Golden Globes red carpet that he had a message for one of his little ones – Morkie pup, Leaf.

“You be good, Leaf, and go to bed,” Ferguson said. “That’s what I’m going to say when I win. Oh wait – I wasn’t nominated.”

Though not nominated for an individual prize, Ferguson did end up on stage at the Beverly Hilton Hotel when Modern Family took the award for best TV series, comedy. He didn’t get a chance to acknowledge Leaf, though – costar Sofia Vergara and showrunner Steve Levitan had the honor of (bilingually) accepting the award.

Ferguson and boyfriend Justin Mikita brought Leaf home in October, and already, Leaf is “very well-behaved.”

Not only that, Leaf is living in the lap of luxury. Since becoming a Mikita-Ferguson, the fluffy Maltese-Yorkie mix has dressed up for Halloween, vacationed in Palm Springs, and even picked up a naughty habit.
