Christmas has come a few days early for Hilary Duff. The actress’s beloved Chihuahua, Lola, returned home Tuesday after undergoing surgery for an undisclosed ailment.
“Could not have asked for a better gift! Got 2bring Miss Lola home 2day!” she Tweeted Tuesday night. “She is standing up by herself! And taking some steps! Big improvement!”
The 6-year-old dog had Duff, who is expecting her first child with husband Mike Comrie, worried on Dec. 13 when she underwent surgery at an L.A. animal hospital. A rep declined to comment Tuesday on the reason for the surgery.
“Could every1 please say a prayer for my pup lola, she has surgery in a half hour!” Duff wrote at the time. “She’s a strong girl but needs all good energy sent her way.”
In the days following Lola’s surgery, Duff kept her Twitter followers informed about her recovery.
“Lola update: she is getting a bit better everyday it was major surgery and I have to keep that in mind. still in the hospital 😦 home on Tuesday,” she shared on Sunday.
The little pooch has had her fair share of health woes this year. Over the summer Duff Tweeted about her repeated seizures and in September, Lola spent the night at the emergency vet for an eye infection.
