Ellen DeGeneres’s A-list Oscars selfie has inspired many imitators.

On Tuesday night, Terry Shipman of Beaumont, Texas, posted a photo to Twitter in an attempt to beat out DeGeneres’s record-breaking group shot for the most retweets. Instead of surrounding himself with celebrities, Shipman posed with two adorable dogs and Tweeted the picture along with the message: “Let’s see if we can beat the Oscar retweets!”

Shipman may be the underdog now, but he’s on his way to reaching Ellen’s 3.2 million mark. The mustachioed man’s selfie already has more than 75,000 retweets. Shipman is gaining fans as well, having shot up from a mere 20 followers to over 2,500 overnight. Among these new supporters is Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover model Chrissy Teigen.

I love you @terry_shipman. It might take longer but we’re gonna make your dream come true.
