True role models don’t come around often, but when they do, they shake your soul like an earthquake.
Putter the squirrel is one of these soul-shaking individuals.
Out of all the paths available to her, Putter decided to follow the one that led to Fantasy Isle Ice Cream and Mini Golf in Holden Beach, North Carolina.
Here, the rodent is treated to two mini ice creams cones (normal-sized to a squirrel) every day from the shop’s owners Scott and Pam Martin, reports The Associated Press.
Putter, a girl, started leaving her nest and visiting the shop last summer, and has been back twice a day, every day, since.
“She’s quite the little character,” said Scott Martin. “She actually plays golf with the kids. She will run around the golf course and play with the golf balls. She’s a cute little mascot. We are blessed to have her.”
To ensure that Putter’s habit doesn’t become too unhealthy, the Martins put up signs to let their patrons know that the squirrel is limited to two vanilla cones a day and should not be fed by guests.
So the next time someone says you can’t do something, remember Putter: The North Carolina squirrel who ignored her natural diet of nuts and sought out the sweet elixir that is ice cream. If Putter can do that, you can do anything.
