Actually, they know they can dance!
From the looks of it, these leaping lemurs can move as gracefully as ballet dancers – and that’s better than lots of humans can say.
This mother-baby pair was photographed by John Devries of England, who was on vacation in Madagascar when he got this artful shot. “I can remember when I was a child watching David Attenborough present a show about these extraordinary lemurs that would dance from place to place,” he says. “It was extra special because there was a baby on the mother’s back.”
The lemurs in Madagascar move like dancers across the ground because they’ve adapted to living in trees. Like this fancy-footed lady, they put their arms up to keep their balance. They could teach us a thing or two!
