It’s a meow-sterpiece!

A Siamese cat decorated with ornate flowers, hearts and rhinestones took home – or, we assume, sat in disgust with – the top prize at Monday’s Feline Fantasy extreme grooming contest in East Rutherford, N.J.

The rescue kitty’s far-out fur design didn’t come easily. Professional groomer Angela Kumpe painstakingly cut and dyed the cat’s coat after drawing the pattern, best described as a feline fleur-de-lis, on her back with a marker. (See the final product in the video above.)

We’re sure cats would be delighted to know that dogs also got in on the action. A white poodle, groomed to the theme “wild, wild west,” nabbed the top prize for canines.

Tell us in the comments below: Is it just us, or do the participants look none too pleased with their new looks? And would you ever try out one of these styles on your pet?
