Home: Some pets never have one to call their own. We’d like to help change that by introducing you to an extraordinary, adoptable pet every week. Today, meet Leon, a redbone coonhound currently being cared for by the Eleventh Hour Rescue of Randolph, New Jersey.

True to his breed, this 4-year-old pup — who weighs 45 lbs. — is an explorer.

“Leon loves to go to the park for walks and enjoys going to his special volunteer’s home for visits,” reads his bio. “He is an obedient boy who is learning his manners and is very eager to please.”

Leon loves car rides and is already leash trained. While he adores people, the rescue says he’d do best in a home with older, more considerate children.

“He loves other dogs, but does tend to play a little rough so a bigger dog would be ideal for him to play with,” his bio says. “He has an amazing nose and loves to explore, so he would love a home with a fenced-in yard.”

Affectionate and goofy, Leon needs a forever family that will continue his training. To read more about him or to complete an application,
