Adopt Me! Shane Wants to Spring into Action With You

Posted on

Home. Some cats and dogs never have one to call their own. We’d like to help change that by introducing you to an extraordinary homeless pet every week. Today, we’d like you to meet Shane, a stray who was rescued from a local shelter by the Hopalong & Second Chance Animal Rescue of Oakland, Calif.

A bit skinny when he was rescued, the 1-year-old border collie mix has really blossomed into a great canine companion. Now in foster care, Shane weighs a healthy 60 lbs. and is eager and ready to play with anyone who is willing.

“He’d be a good running partner, hiking partner, camping buddy,” says Erica Anders, the dog and volunteer coordinator at Hopalong. “A good dog for someone with an active lifestyle.”

This playful pooch loves to give kisses and play with his toys, but isn’t afraid of a little hard work. “He’s easy to train but does need more training,” says Anders. “He really wants to please and he’s food motivated.” Shane already knows “sit,” but would benefit from a bit of obedience training. “As long as he has the right person to train him, he’ll do well,” Anders adds.

If you’re interested in adopting Shane, click here to fill out an online application via the rescue’s website and contact Anders via email: Established in 1993, the Hopalong & Second Chance Animal Rescue is on a mission to eliminate the euthanization of adoptable animals. Over the years, it has found loving homes for over 18,000 animals like Shane.
