Home. Some pets never have one to call their own. We’d like to help change that by introducing you to an extraordinary adoptable pet every week. Meet Bennie, a 2-year-old dog that adores being around people.
He may have been found roaming the streets of North Little Rock, Ark., late last year, but this pointer mix was clearly a pet in his previous life.
“He was somebody’s dog at some point,” says Julia Coulter, lead animal control officer at the North Little Rock Animal Shelter. “A lot of people have to start from the bottom up with a new dog, but you can tell he’s been around people and he’s got that going for him.”
If he likes you – and chances are pretty good that he will – Bennie isn’t afraid to show it. “He’ll jump up on you and embrace you,” Coulter says. “He wants to be with somebody so bad.”
The friendly pooch, who stands out thanks to his unique markings, already knows commands like “sit” and “stay,” and would fit in perfectly with a family with young children or a real outdoor-lover who’s looking for a canine companion to go walking or biking with.
“He has a lot of energy,” says Coulter. “But he’s a really well behaved dog.”
If you think Bennie sounds like the buddy you’ve been looking for, call the North Little Rock Animal Shelter at 501-791-8577 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. To learn more about the shelter, visit their Facebook page.
