Why Niall Horan Doesn't Trust His Parents’ Opinions of His Music — and Relies on His Cousin Instead!

Posted on

Niall Horan‘s parents think everything the former One Direction member sings is a certified hit.

The “Slow Hands” crooner admitted during a Tuesday appearance on The Elvis Duran Z100 Morning Show that “it’s hard to play” his music for his mom because she “will just be like, ‘Yeah, it’s great, that’s great, that’s great.’ ”

“You just don’t get an honest opinion,” he admitted.

So who does Horan riff off of instead? “I live with my cousin so I’ll play something to him because he’s got a good ear for that kind of thing. He’ll tell me the truth if it’s crap!”

Added Horan, 23, “So, yeah, don’t ask the parents ’cause they’ll always tell you it’s good.”

Horan also revealed how he and his former bandmates would relax while on world tours – and thwart the attention of their devoted fans in public.

“We would be touring and there would be thousands and thousands of people outside the hotel, and I wouldn’t be able to just walk the streets,” he shared, “So me and [Harry Styles] used to just go and play golf. Obviously people don’t want to be walking around a golf course with you, so!”

So when will Horan have another album to take on the road? Right now, he’s focused on his singles but teased a potential fall release.

“I haven’t got a date for that yet, but when I do I guess I’ll be letting people know,” he told Duran, adding, “Whenever I feel like I’m finished and whenever promo is finished for ‘Slow Hands,’ I’ll be giving you an album… I’ll be telling you first! I’ll be finished soon, it’s not too far away I don’t think.”
