The Tony winner will release his new album, Simply Christmas, on Nov. 11, and PEOPLE has an exclusive first listen to “Winter Song,” one of the original cuts on the collection, which also includes takes on classics such as “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” “My Favorite Things” and “The First Noel.”
Odom’s holiday set is just the latest accomplishment in what’s been a whirlwind year for the musical theater star. In addition to earning a Grammy in February, he took home a Tony Award for his portrayal of Aaron Burr in Lin-Manuel Miranda‘s smash Broadway show Hamilton in June. And that same month, Odom, 35, re-released his self-titled 2014 debut of jazz standards and classics.
Then, in October, the performer revealed that he and his wife, The Affair actress Nicolette Robinson, 28, are expecting their first child.
“Sometimes the kids don’t like what you like, but I’d love to give my kids an appreciation of the arts,” he told PEOPLE recently. “Even more than what I’m looking forward to handing down and teaching a child, I’m looking forward to what the child teaches me — maybe they’re gonna get me into stuff that I never thought I’d be into.”
