Fifth Harmony member Lauren Jauregui was charged for possession of marijuana on Tuesday night while at Washington Dulles International Airport, a Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority spokeswoman tells PEOPLE.
However, in a statement provided to PEOPLE, a lawyer for Fifth Harmony and Jauregui denies previous reports that she was arrested.
“Lauren Jauregui was not arrested and detained as reported, but simply given a citation for possession of marijuana and released on her own recognizance,” attorney Dina LaPolt said. “She will address the matter appropriately through the legal system. This will not interfere with any future scheduled performances or activities.”
The 20-year-old singer was released on a summons, the spokeswoman said. The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority could not share any additional information about the arrest.

According to TMZ, Jauregui was reportedly attempting to board a flight at the Washington, D.C.-area airport when she was stopped at a TSA checkpoint and searched. TSA officers reportedly discovered a bag of marijuana in Jauregui’s carry-on luggage, and she was arrested in the terminal.
It is unclear exactly where Jauregui was flying, but the group tweeted that they were headed “back to Brazil for @vevo_brasil Fun Pop Festival” on Tuesday. The band said the performance would be streamed live on vevo.com Wednesday.
Fifth Harmony is also scheduled to perform on Friday for Power 96.1’s Jingle Ball in Atlanta.
