Rachel McAdams Reveals What Costar Benedict Cumberbatch Really Thinks of His Fans

Posted on

“Cumberhumans” just doesn’t have the same ring to it.

Rachel McAdams stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where she couldn’t help but be amused with her Doctor Strange costar Benedict Cumberbatch’s fanbase, known as the “Cumberbitches.”

“They call themselves that,” the actress said on the show airing Thursday, joking: “They did that to themselves.”

McAdams, 37, quipped that she had to ask Cumberbatch how he felt about his rather enthusiastic fan group.

“He said, ‘Oh, it’s very flattering, but I just wish they called themselves something a little more respectable like Cumberhumans, Cumberpeople or something.’ ”

“That doesn’t go with ‘batch,’ ” DeGeneres replied. “That’s the whole point. It has to go with Cumberbatch.”

Cumberbatch previously spoke about his devoted followers, admitting that he doesn’t quite see their fascination with him.

“I don’t look at myself in the mirror and go, ‘Yeah, absolutely! I see what they’re saying!’ ” he told Vanity Fair. “I see all my faults and everything that I’ve always seen as my faults.”

Doctor Strange hits theaters Nov. 4.
