Jiminy Cricket! Pinocchio is about to become a real real boy.

The mischievous but lovable marionette will be the next classic character to get the live-action treatment from Disney, following the box office success of Cinderella and Maleficent.

Screenwriter Peter Hedges is working on a new film loosely based on the original Pinocchio story, The Adventures of Pinocchio, a novel written by Carlo Collodi in 1883, PEOPLE has confirmed.

The live-action flick is in very early development.

And this isn’t the only Pinocchio film in the works right now. Guillermo del Toro is also helming a darker, stop-motion animated 3D version of the fairy tale, according to Deadline.

Disney is also working on live-action reboots of Mulan, The Jungle Book and a sequel to Tim Burton‘s 2010 live-action version of Alice in Wonderland.

A Beauty and the Beast remake starring Emma Watson, Dan Stevens and Audra McDonald is also in the works, as well as a Tim Burton-directed Dumbo.
