The Golden Globes have a new golden host!

Seth Meyers is set to host the 75th annual Golden Globe Awards in January 2018. The comedian and Late Night host takes over hosting duties from pal Jimmy Fallon after the Tonight Show host headed the show in 2017.

“The Hollywood Foreign Press Association is excited to have Seth Meyers host the 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards,” HFPA president Meher Tatna said in a statement, according to Entertainment Weekly. “With his natural comedic wit and innate ability to charm audiences, Seth will help us carry on the celebratory tradition of recognizing the best in television and film at the Party of the Year.”

Meyers follows in the footsteps of a few former Saturday Night Live alumni: Amy Poehler and Tina Fey also hosted the 2013, 2014 and 2015 editions of the annual telecast. He also previously hosted the 2014 Emmy Awards.

The comedian was just one of a few people approached for the role. Tiffany Haddish, Ellen DeGeneres and Poehler and Fey were all reportedly approached to host this year’s show, according to Variety. Poehler and Fey took over from Ricky Gervais three-year run starting in 2010 before he returned for another year in 2016.

The gig comes after Meyers has gained critical acclaim for his political coverage in the late night market with his “A Closer Look” segment often tackling the Trump Administration.

The 2018 Golden Globes are set to air January 7 on NBC.
