All hail the queen of Atlantis!
The first glimpse of Amber Heard in costume for the upcoming Justice League movie — in which she plays Mera, queen of Atlantis and love interest of Jason Mamoa’s Aquaman — has finally been revealed.
Concept art for the character, as well as a still photo of Heard in full Atlantean gear, was shared by IGN on Wednesday. In the still photo, the outfit’s green scales and ornate crown come to life from the illustration. Mera’s look was created by costume designer Michael Wilkinson and illustrator Ian Joyner.
This will be Heard’s first major role since she filed for divorce from Johnny Depp in May. The actress had to schedule some of the divorce proceedings around her busy schedule filming Justice League in London.
While Mera will be introduced in Justice League, she is expected to play a bigger role in James Wan’s standalone Aquaman film, scheduled to hit theaters on July 27, 2018.
Justice League also stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder is returning to helm Justice League, and last week he announced that the film has officially wrapped in the U.K.
Justice League hits theaters on Nov. 17, 2017.
