Carrie Fisher was shocked by the reaction to the revelation of her whirlwind three-month affair with Harrison Ford while filming the original Star Wars, so she decided to spill a few more shocking “secrets” from the set.
With the help of Stephen Colbert (and her constant companion, Gary the French bulldog), the 60-year-old actress invented some behind-the-scenes stories that didn’t make it into her new memoir, The Princess Diarist.
“There were a lot of pranks on set,” Fisher revealed. “One time we cut off Mark Hamill‘s hand, and they decided to keep it in the movie.”
Colbert offered another: “They couldn’t afford to have special effects during the first movie, so to save money, the actors had to move things with their minds.”
“You know who had actually the most sex out of the whole cast? The Ewoks,” Fisher joked. “They screwed like rabbits. It’s true. Their trailer had to be hosed out twice a day.”
After 40 years, Fisher revealed she had an affair with Ford when she was 19 and he was a 33-year-old married father of two, having stumbled upon diaries she kept from that time period.
During her appearance on The Late Show, she admitted that she somewhat regretted coming forward with the story.
“It is too big of a story that I can’t handle,” Fisher said.
“Can you not handle it or can Harrison Ford not handle it?” Colbert replied, and the audience laughed when Fisher shared, “I’m sure he can’t handle it at all.”
Fisher — who revealed the affair in the new issue of PEOPLE, which contains an excerpt from her new memoir The Princess Diarist — said the real-life romance that many fans hoped for since Han Solo and Princess Leia captured hearts on-screen in the 1976 movie was “intense.”
“It was Han and Leia during the week, and Carrie and Harrison during the weekend,” she told PEOPLE.
