A past Oscar winner just predicted a future one – and showed she can laugh at herself in the process.
Anne Hathaway saw Trainwreck on Monday, and she enjoyed it so much that she posted her ticket stub on Instagram, along with a fan-girl note to Amy Schumer – even though Hathaway was a punch line in the film.
“Dear @AmySchumer,” she wrote. “Don’t pretend like when you win your Oscar – which you could for your brilliant and refreshing writing and/or acting in @TrainwreckMovie – you won’t tote it around to every Oscar party you go to.”
She signed off: “Way to slay, Annie.”
Hathaway’s note was a playful response to a joke in the movie, when Schumer needles her boyfriend (Bill Hader) after he gets an award for his charity work, saying he’s acting like Anne Hathaway on Oscar night.
Judd Apatow, who directed the film, chimed in on the joke, assuring moviegoers – and Hathaway – that no disrespect was meant by the gentle ribbing.
“We love Anne Hathaway! She just wins Oscars cause she is awesome. Thus – at the party she has to carry it,” Apatow posted to Twitter.
Hathaway, 32, won her Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 2012’s Les Misérables. Meanwhile, Schumer, 34, enjoyed a solid $30.2 million opening weekend for her hit comedy.
