Jessica Cox has not only refused to allow a physical limitation to hold her back in life, she’s also achieved more than most with two functional arms.
The secret to her success? “I didn’t see my not having arms as a limitation,” says Cox, 32, in the above video.
This Tucson, Arizona, resident became the first armless person to receive a pilot’s license in 2008. She also became the first armless person admitted to the American Tae Kwon Do Association. She also surfs and scuba-dives when she’s not touring as a motivational speaker, in addition to playing the piano and driving her car with her feet.

Cox, who was born without arms, used prosthetic arms for a period in her youth but ultimately forwent them because they proved more cumbersome than did performing everyday activities with her feet
“There s nothing that can substitute the tactile ability of flesh and bone,” she says. “And my feet have that ability.”
Cox has experienced a recent surge in fame after this profile went viral on social media. In the video, Cox pledges to use her visibility to encourage others to try harder.
