A Fashion Forward Family Space
No doubt Marie Claire editor, Project Runway All Stars mentor, and Fashion Police regular Zanna Roberts Rassi knows how to put together a killer outfit. But when it came to assembling her multipurpose "slashie" room —that's "bedroom-slash-playroom-slash-sitting-room-slash-I don't know!" — she turned to the decorating pros at One Kings Lane to help her pull together a gorgeous and family-friendly space with singular style.

The "hodgepodge" space had to serve as a playroom for Zanna and husband Mazdack's twin daughters, Rumi and Juno, as well as a make-shift guestroom. But the blank-slate decor wasn't serving either need. The designers at the Studio at One Kings Lane married Zanna's proper English style with a touch of NYC edge in a daring monochromatic theme.

A Secret in the Cupboard
An antique armoire solved one of the room's biggest needs: storing all the kid stuff. "As we all know, kids’ toys aren’t the most attractive things sometimes," Zanna says. "It was like an explosion of Disney in there!” The large piece also holds bedding for overnight guests.

A Kid-Friendly Scene Stealer
In another corner, the little girls' style is celebrated with a punchy, red-patterned tent, that Zanna jokes in a video tour, is also a good place for a tired mom to hide away with a glass of wine and a magazine.

The children's artwork is imortalized (and elevated) in a display of gold frames dreamed up by the OKL team. Designer Sally Gotfredson created the arrangement so that the gallery can easily be swapped out with new masterpieces through the years.

When the space transforms to do bedroom duties, the pillows pull together the bold, printed wallpaper and striped dhurrie rug. “It’s a color pop that I was not expecting,” Zanna says of the room’s new red-and-white palette. “I would never have gone for it, honestly, but it works so well.”
