When tennis superstar Venus Williams is not on the court, she can often be found brainstorming new ideas for her interior design firm VStarr Interiors or her active wear line EleVen by Venus. Now all those passions have come together at the Holiday House Hamptons presented by HC&G in Water Mill, New York, where Williams created a rooftop tennis court and pergola-covered lounge area.
“It’s my dream to combine my love for fitness, fashion and interiors,” Williams — one of several designers from across the country who were hand-selected to design areas of the home — tells PEOPLE. The annual open-house event founded by interior designer and philanthropist Iris Dankner benefits The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
“Our aim was to create a unique blend between classic Hamptons style and our theme for the space, which is ‘Olympics in Rio,'” says Katherine Stone, a designer for V Starr Interiors. “We kept the basic color scheme very light and airy with whites, greys and blues, and then created custom pillows in EleVen’s Prism pattern to punch up the vibrancy.” (The space also boasts a few monkey statues, reminiscent of the Brazilian rainforests, to serve as a talking point for any gathering.)
Fancy a drink? The cozy outdoor bar area is comprised of weather resistant bar stools and a bar from Roche Bobois’ Bel Air collection. Adds Stone, “We wanted this to be a place where you can’t help but want to sit down and relax — whether you are watching a tennis match or taking in the panoramic views the Hamptons offer.”
This year’s event is open to the public until July 26. For more information, visit Holiday House Hamptons.
