Poppy Brent-Berkus is a scene-stealer on dads Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent’s new TLC show, but not for the reason you might think.
During filming for Nate and Jeremiah By Design, the adorable two-year-old “put her hands on the coffee table and did like a booty dance that I have never actually seen, or promoted,” Brent tells PEOPLE. “We’re like, ‘We don’t even let you watch TV. Where did this come from?'”
Asked if they were nervous about letting their daugther be on screen at such a young age, Berkus, 45, jokes that she’ll have plenty to talk to her therapist about in a few years. “Scarier was how good she is,” he says. “She has two dads on television. I think she thinks that’s normal now.”
“God help us,” Brent, 32, adds.
The family also sees sharing their personal life as an opportunity to bring a new perspective to home makeover television. “There’s power in education and people seeing that we’re an everyday family,” says Brent. “We love the same way, and just opening that up to everyone to see.”
