Jamie Chung has a new love affair — with Austin, Texas.
The actress had explored the southern hotspot before during the South by Southwest music festival and on a trip with her husband Bryan Greenberg, but her latest visit has her even more taken with the city.
“The people, the live music, the food,” she gushes about what draws her to return. “I’m constantly moving between indoors and outdoors, and there’s so much to see.”
An experienced jetsetter, Chung, 34, knows preparation is key to a good vacation. Her travel essentials include “a good pair of sunnies and comfy sneakers,” says the actress, who recently teamed up with Transitions lenses to launch their Good Light Project.
A little research before lift off doesn’t hurt either, which is why Chung is sharing her favorite spots in Austin. All you have to do is show up and enjoy the food trucks:
Eat: “It’s all about the food trucks, and I feel like every bar in Austin has one not too far away,” she says. “It’s so eclectic, literally you can find anything.”
Drink: “There’s this one cool bar called White Horse,” she says. “They have the best live music.”

Play: “There’s this really beautiful walk called Lady Bird Lake,” she says. “It’s a ten mile run all the way around, I haven’t done that part yet but it’s stunning.”
Shop: If you’re looking to do a little damage to your debit card, Chung says the stores on South Congress, particularly a “great place called Cove,” is the place to be. “I love just walking in and out,” she says.
Stay: “The street that it’s on is poppin’,” she says of the Kimpton Hotel Van Zandt. “There’s live music, bars, great food, and more food trucks. It’s quite the scene.”
Austin might have her heart, but there’s another country she’d like to explore with her husband that could win her stomach.
“I’d love to eat my way through Italy,” she says. “All the Vino and fresh pasta — that would probably be next on my list.”
