Cut the kitchen grime with this easy hack!
Slicing and dicing can take a toll on your trusty cutting board, and don’t even think about the germs that are lingering from preparing raw meats. But with a few pantry ingredients and a light scrub, you can return your wood board to a clean, mean cutting machine.
Start by wiping down the surface with vinegar and a clean cloth, followed by a similar swipe of hydrogen peroxide to thoroughly disinfect your board. Next, sprinkle a generous amount of salt on the surface. Slice a lemon in half, and rub one of the open ends over the salt, squeezing out the juice as you scrub. Allow the lemon and salt combo to sit for 5 to 10 minutes, and then wipe off with a soft rag. Complete with a coat of mineral oil for a flawless finish.
Display your fresh and clean cutting board against your backsplash, and use a squeeze of the leftover lemon in a tasty treat. Hey, you deserve it.
