Arie Luyendyk Jr. caused a serious backlash in Bachelor-nation when he left newly minted Bachelorette Becca Kufrin for runner up and now fiancee Lauren Burnham on the show’s season finale. Despite the controversy, Luyendyk Jr. and Burnham tell PEOPLE they’re, “super happy,” and are planning to marry this year. The first to-do after riding off into the sunset? Fleeing the U.S. on a multi-country vacation.

Luyendyk Jr. echoed his bride-to-be’s sentiment in a selfie of his own. “Posted this because I sent this to my mom and she said she’s never seen me happier,” he said. “So much beauty here in Iceland including this one.”

Next, they jetted off on a WOW Airlines flight to their next destination. “Off to Barcelona!” Burnham said.

After arriving in Spain, the couple headed to Barcelona’s new Iberostar Paseo de Gracia hotel. They shacked up in the penthouse suite, where they were greeted with chocolate-covered strawberries, tropical fruits and champagne.

A source close to the couple told PEOPLE the duo have been friendly to the hotel staff, and told them, “This is our first time in Barcelona and we’re excited to go out and visit the city.”

They’re also making use of every minute in the Spanish sunshine. “We’re glad it’s not cold, like it was in Iceland,” they said.

The two were caught mounting a scooter, which is right up race car driver/realtor Luyendyk Jr.’s alley. According to Burnham’s Instagram Stories, they took a 20-minute ride to Park Güell, which boasts mosaic-covered buildings, sculptures and stunning gardens.

“Too glam to give a damn,” Burnham captions this champagne-sipping snap from the roof of their hotel suite. Photo credit goes to Luyendyk Jr., who she dubs the “best Insta fiance in the biz.”

Luyendyk Jr. happily accepts his new title. “Becoming quite the Instagram fiancé,” he wrote alongside this breakfast photo atop their hotel suite.

One final photo from the whirwind vacation shows the two sharing a kiss in the same spot with Barcelona’s famous Sagrada Familia cathedral in the background. “We’re now on our way home to spend some time with my family,” Burnham tells PEOPLE. “Then we start the big move to Arizona!”
