If you’ve ever tried to cut fresh corn directly off the cob, you know it can be a surprisingly tricky endeavor. Seriously! Slicing from the top down onto a flat cutting board yields rogue kernels all over your kitchen counter, which are a pain to collect.

The secret to avoiding the mess? A bundt pan. The center of the pan holds the ear of corn in place while you use a sharp knife to slice down the cob. As the kernels fall off, they all collect into the pan. Consider your life changed.

If you don’t have a bundt pan, fret not. This trick works just as well by inverting a small bowl inside of a larger bowl and proceeding in the same way.
