Add Apples to Your Guacamole for a Game Day Dip with a Twist

Guac it out at your next tailgate party with one of my favorite recipes for this crowd-pleaser.

One of the secret ingredients I like to add to guacamole is a Granny Smith apples. Dicing up the apple and mixing it into the guacamole gives it a nice, subtle sweetness that you’ll crave.

You can still enjoy this recipe with your favorite tortilla chips, but it also goes great with apple crisps and other baked fruit crisps.

Granny Smith Apple Guacamole 

Serves 8 to 10

3 ripened avocados, halved and pitted
½ cup finely chopped Vidalia onion
½ cup snipped fresh cilantro
Juice of 1 lime
Hot sauce, to taste
1 Granny Smith apple, peeled, cored, and finely chopped
Kosher salt or table salt, to taste
Assorted dippers (such as baked fruit crisps, apple chips, and/or tortilla chips)

1. Scoop avocado flesh in a bowl and add the onion, chopped cilantro, lime juice, and hot sauce.

2. Mash with a fork until reached a desired consistency.

3. Fold in diced apple and season with salt to taste.
