Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but during the holidays, it can get overlooked. Between all the cookies, cocktail parties and roast beefs, who has the time?
Well, you’re about to get inspired to make time. This easy hack uses cookie cutters and a bit of food coloring to make the most festive pancakes ever.
Start with your favorite pancake batter (we have some recommendations, but the boxed mix is just fine), then divide it in half and use dye one red and one green using food coloring. In a lightly greased non-stick skillet over medium heat, place your favorite metal Christmas cookie cutters. Pour the batter into the center of the cookie cutters and wait for the top to start to bubble (just like regular pancakes), then carefully remove the cookie cutters and flip. Ta da!
Want to make ’em extra special? Toss in some chocolate chips and peppermint extract for chocolate-peppermint pancakes.
NOTE: It’s very important to use metal cookie cutters here, as the plastic ones will melt.
