Hall of Famer Warren Sapp has been arrested for soliciting prostitution and for assault, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed to PEOPLE.
Sapp, 42, was taken into custody by police at a hotel in downtown Phoenix on Monday morning after two women claimed they were involved in an altercation with him.
When questioned, Sapp reportedly “admitted involvement in the act of prostitution,” reports TMZ, “but denied assaulting the females.”
Phoenix Police Chief Joseph Yahner told TMZ that the two female victims both suffered minor injuries as a result of the alleged assault.
Particularly well known for appearing on season 7 of Dancing with the Stars in 2008, Sapp also worked as an analyst on NFL Total Access and NFL GameDay Morning. However, his contract has since been terminated, the NFL Network confirms to Sports Illustrated.
This isn’t Sapp’s first encounter with the wrong side of the law. In 2010, the former NFL tight end was arrested and charged with domestic battery; however, the charges were later dropped. Sapp also filed for bankruptcy in 2012.
