Inside the Desperate Final Moments of Shannan Gilbert’s Life: ‘They’re Trying to Kill Me’

Posted on

Watch our new 10-part true crime show, People Magazine Investigates, which debuts with the two-hour season premiere “The Long Island Serial Killer” on Monday, Nov. 7, at 9 p.m. ET on Investigation Discovery.

The last time anyone saw Shannan Gilbert alive, she was running for her life. It would be more than a year before her body was found in what would become a high-profile hunt for a potential mass murderer.

The months-long search for Shannan’s body unearthed at least 10 other remains on Long Island’s Gilgo Beach in New York … and a suspected serial killer.

The case — appropriately dubbed the Long Island Serial Killer — has been the focus of intense investigation since it came to light in December 2010. And it’s being spotlighted anew in the two-hour series premiere of People Magazine Investigates on Investigation Discovery.

The new true crime series, debuting on Nov. 7, will uncover fresh twists in some of the most enduring mysteries in America, including the cases of Gilbert and the other people found dead deep in the underbrush on a Long Island beach.
