brightcove.createExperiences(); As Pawn Stars‘ Austin “Chumlee” Russell prepares to fight gun and drug charges stemming from his arrest Wednesday, a source is shedding light on his personal life.
Russell, 33, was arrested on 19 weapon and drug charges in his Las Vegas home after a police raid, with officers there as part of a sexual assault investigation. The reality star was not charged in the sexual assault case, but officers said they discovered marijuana, methamphetamine and at least one gun on the premises.
A source acknowledges that Russell is known for his hard partying and love of women.
“He has a gun and smokes a lot of weed,” the source tells PEOPLE,
Though the History Channel, which airs Pawn Stars, isn’t commenting on the case, a source close to the network says, “They are just letting the justice system play out for right now.”
The source adds that the show is not currently in production and they have no plans to start shooting new episodes soon because they already have a number banked. The source adds that everyone who works with Russell says he’s a “lovely guy.”
Russell’s attorney says the star will continue to fight the charges.
“Austin has great faith in the justice system and is looking forward to a truthful resolution of the entire matter,” says attorney David Chesnoff.
Russell is scheduled to appear in court on May 23.
