Details are emerging of former Miss USA Rima Fakih’s drunk-driving arrest in Michigan.
Fakih, 26, allegedly had a blood-alcohol level more than twice the legal limit, and she was speeding and weaving through traffic with an uncorked, half-empty bottle of champagne, according to a police report obtained by the Associated Press.
She was weaving in heavy traffic at 60 mph in a black 2011 Jaguar, the report says, and “appeared disoriented and had very slurred speech” after she was stopped.
Two separate breath tests allegedly showed a blood-alcohol level of 0.19 percent and a 0.20 percent, well above Michigan’s legal limit of 0.08 percent. At the scene of the arrest, Fakih claimed she hadn’t been drinking, and said she didn’t know that a bottle of Moet & Chandon champagne was open on the floor.
Fakih, a former Miss Michigan who in 2010 became the second-ever Arab-American to be crowned Miss USA, faces drunk-driving charges, along with charges of possessing an open intoxicant in a motor vehicle and careless driving.
