Police on Long Island want to talk to a woman who allegedly tried to abduct a baby from a mall bathroom last week.

A statement from authorities in New York’s Nassau County alleges a blonde woman in a blue jacket entered the restroom at the Kohl’s store in the Green Acres Mall and grabbed a 1-year-old’s arm.

Before grabbing the infant, the woman stated, “That is a beautiful baby,” according to police.

The child’s mother claims the woman – described as Hispanic – was milling about the bathroom before suddenly lunging for the baby.

Authorities said the woman clutched the child’s arm and twice demanded, “Give me the baby.”

The child’s mother pushed the woman, who then fled the restroom. She left the area in a black livery vehicle.

Detectives ask that anyone with any information regarding the attempted abduction contact Nassau County’s Crime Stoppers hotline at (800) 244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
