An Illinois couple died on Friday night in an apparent murder-suicide, authorities say, according to The Southern.
Amy Smith Blaise, 43, a middle school teacher from Marion, Illinois, died from a single gunshot wound to her head, and was pronounced dead at 1:40 a.m. on Saturday by Coroner Michael “Junior” Burke, according to a news release obtained by the newspaper.
Her death was ruled as a homicide.
Her husband, Daniel Blaise, 42, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities said.
The investigation indicated that Daniel fired multiple rounds inside the residence, before firing a round that shot his wife, according to KFVS.
One of the couple’s children was inside the residence during the incident, but was not physically injured.
