Former TV host Gary Collins will be serving four months of hard time – in the comfort of his own home.
Collins, sentenced in March for his third DUI conviction, was fitted with a GPS ankle bracelet Wednesday, Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s spokesman Drew Sugars confirms.
“He’s allowed to leave his home to go to work and he can leave for four hours per week to run errands,” Sugars tells PEOPLE. “His sentence is for 120 days, but he will be released from the program in 72 days if he abides by all rules.”
Collins pleaded no contest to driving a motor home drunk following his arrest Jan. 31 in Santa Barbara County, Calif.
In January 2008, he served four days in a Glendale, Calif., jail for what was his second DUI conviction at the time.
A lawyer for Collins had no comment.
