“The defense rests.”

And with those three words, Casey Anthony’s legal team concluded two weeks of presenting evidence to the jury.

Although many people in the gallery hoped that Anthony, 25, would testify in her own defense, she elected to invoke her right to remain silent.

“Is it your decision not to testify?” asked judge Belvin Perry.

“Yes sir,” answered Anthony, who has been charged with the murder of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee.

“And have you had ample time to discuss this with your attorney?” Perry asked.

“Yes sir,” Anthony answered again.

At the news, several onlookers in the gallery sighed with disappointment.

When the defense rested, the jurors, several of whom were clearly ready for more testimony, closed their notebooks.

The prosecution will now present a rebuttal case which should last less than a day. Closing arguments will follow, and the jury could begin deliberations this weekend.

If she is found guilty, Anthony could face the death penalty.
