When U.K. millionaire Andrew Bush was found dead in his mansion in Spain, authorities launched a worldwide hunt for his ex-girlfriend, a stunning blonde swimsuit model named Mayka Kukocova.
Days later, Kukocova turned up thousands of miles away in her native Slovakia, where she turned herself in to police April 8 in her hometown of Nova Bosaca, according to international press reports.
In a sensational story lighting up the British tabloids, Kukocova, 23, is awaiting extradition to Spain to face a charge of “consumed intentional homicide” in the shooting death of her playboy ex who made his fortune in gold trading.
Kukocova was quoted in the Slovakian media as denying the allegations and suggesting she’ll resist extradition.
“I let myself into the hands of police thinking that my country will provide me protection and without sufficient evidence will not extradite me to Spain, because everything happened differently than media has described it,” she tells netky.sk, according to a translation by the U.K.’s Daily Mail.
Bush, 48, was shot twice April 5 after returning home from a trip with his new girlfriend, described in the British press as a 20-year-old Russian attending college in Bristol, England, where Bush is from.
In an interview with the Bristol Post, the new girlfriend, Maria Korotaeva, recalls hearing gunfire coming from inside the villa after she had fled the house when it appeared somebody else was there.
“Obviously I am glad I am not dead but I feel like a train has been running up and down my body ripping me to bits,” she tells the newspaper. “There’s no way of putting into words how you feel when somebody you love is killed. I feel dreadful right now. We had so many plans for the future and now there’s nothing.”
Bush’s ex-wife, Sam Mason, 45, a former radio host, and their 19-year-old daughter, have traveled from the U.K. to Spain as the investigation continues.
“RIP dearest Andy,” Mason wrote on Facebook. “We all loved you so much. Our lives will never be the same again.”
