The body of a Connecticut man who vanished after attending a party in New York City over the weekend was discovered in a shallow grave in New Jersey on Wednesday, according to multiple reports.
The remains of 26-year-old Joey Comunale, of Stamford, Connecticut, were reportedly found in a secluded wooded area behind a florist along a stretch of the Jersey Shore, a source told the New York Daily News. Sources told WPIX that he was found with multiple stab wounds.
The Asbury Park Press also confirms a body was found in the area but reports authorities could not confirm if it was Comunale.
Comunale’s body was discovered after a suspect in his case allegedly told police Comunale’s whereabouts, the Daily News reports, stating that the suspect allegedly drove Comunale’s body to the makeshift grave site in his Mercedes-Benz.
NYPD spokeswoman Arlene Muniz declined to confirm the reports to PEOPLE but said that a suspect was in custody pending charges on an unrelated case. (Comunale’s family could not immediately be reached, but they have previously declined to comment to local media.)

The Hofstra University graduate was last seen wearing a blue coat and green shirt on surveillance video at 7:30 a.m. entering the Grand Sutton, a luxury apartment building in Manhattan early Sunday morning, Muniz says.
N.Y.C. police investigators allegedly found bloody clothing and sheets and a luggage cart with blood on it at the apartment building, according to NBC News. The bedding and clothing were found outside the building, where Comunale was planning to attend a party, CBS New York reports.
According to CBS, police were also looking into a report of a man seen dragging a suspicious trash bag from a building where Comunale visited.
“Joey is an amazing hockey player and teammate from an incredibly close and loving family,” a friend of Comunale’s told NBC after he disappeared. “We are hopeful that he will be returned home to those that love him the most.”
