Trisha Yearwood knows exactly how she would like to spend a few days off.

Currently on tour with her husband Garth Brooks, “we’re happy we get to be together on tour, but I also need a little time on the couch, with the dogs at my feet, reading a book and Garth on a bulldozer somewhere,” the singer tells PEOPLE Country in an exclusive interview. “It’s been fast and furious.”

These days Yearwood, 50, is juggling music alongside her flourishing second career as a lifestyle maven. Among her many projects: a new cookbook, Trisha’s Table; the upcoming sixth season of her hit Food Network show Trisha’s Southern Kitchen; her new Trisha Yearwood Home collection for furniture giant Klaussner; a new cookware line, Trisha’s Precious Metals (due this spring), and a planned Christmas duets album with Brooks.

“I would say that in 24 years of touring and making music, this is the busiest I have ever been,” she says.

Looking back, “there was no 10-year plan of eventually I’d like to have a cooking show and start my own furniture line,” says the Grammy winner. “The first [cookbook] was with my mom and sister, and to get all our family recipes in one place was just wonderful. All I try to do is make sure I’m walking through doors that make sense to me.”

Yearwood relaxes on a chair from her new furniture line. The color? "Troyal Blue," after Garth's given first name.
