Rory Feek is reflecting on happy times with his wife Joey, who is bravely facing her final days after battling with terminal cancer.

On Tuesday, Feek took to Facebook, posting a link to a blog he originally posted last March, as he reminisced on his family’s Hawaiian vacation in honor of his 50th birthday.

” Remembering this morning last February, right around this time, we took a family trip together to Hawaii celebrate my upcoming birthday,” the singer wrote. “What a difference a year makes. The only thing that’s changed is everything. And nothing.”

In the blog post, complete with pictures and videos from the family’s trip, Feek recalls the “magical” moments, as he and his wife, along with her two oldest daughters, and the couple’s baby, enjoyed two weeks on Oahu and the Big Island.

“In late February, we packed out bags full of warm weather clothes (I promised Joey and the girls that I wouldn’t even take a pair of bib overalls with me, and I didn’t) and said goodbye to the ice and cold and landed in beautiful sunny paradise,” Feek writes. “Me, Joey, Heidi, her husband Casey, Hopie and out little Indiana.”

The trip, which took place almost a year after Joey was diagnosed with cancer in May 2014, was full of fun times, including walks on the beach, hiking and climbing volcanoes.

“It was our favorite vacation we’ve ever taken,” Feek continued. “Most of the trips that we call family vacations, are actually places where we’re playing a show and try to fit in a few days of being tourists around it.

“This one was different. There was no music, no plan, no rush just us all being together as a family. I loved it.”

While the family may not be able to travel all together anymore, as Joey has been bedridden since November, the video montage that Feek put together will provide memories for years to come.
